Irrigation and Sprinkler Services in Bozeman, MT

Deeper Roots provides irrigation and sprinkler services for homeowners, builders, and commercial properties across Bozeman and the greater Gallatin Valley.

We design, install, repair, start up, and winterize sprinkler systems built for Montana properties. That includes new irrigation systems, outdated systems that need better coverage, seasonal sprinkler maintenance, and complicated setups involving wells, pumps, pressure issues, or older lines.

Kris has been building and maintaining irrigation systems for over 25 years, learning the trade from his dad after decades of service in the valley. Between Kris and Conor, Deeper Roots has worked on sprinkler systems of every size and complexity, including the ones other companies won’t touch.

What we do

Sprinkler system installation

A good sprinkler system should feel almost invisible. Your lawn gets even coverage. Your planting beds get the right amount of water. Your system runs on schedule. You’re not dragging hoses around, chasing brown spots, or wondering why one zone is swampy while another is drying out.

Deeper Roots designs and installs custom sprinkler systems based on your property’s layout, water pressure, soil, sun exposure, and landscape needs.

Our sprinkler installations can include:

  • New irrigation system design

  • Sprinkler system installation

  • Zone mapping and layout

  • Drip irrigation for planting beds, flower pots, hanging baskets and gardens

  • Rain sensors and smart timers

  • Water-efficiency upgrades

  • Irrigation for new landscape installations

  • System replacements and upgrades

We also provide itemized estimates before the work begins, so you know what’s included, why it matters, and what it will take to install the system correctly.

Planning a larger landscaping project, too? We can design the sprinkler system alongside the landscape so the irrigation is built into the plan, not added later as an afterthought.

Sprinkler repair

Broken heads, leaking valves, line breaks, inconsistent coverage, zones that won't turn on, zones that won’t turn off — we've seen it all. With over 25 years of experience in residential and commercial sprinkler systems, we troubleshoot and fix issues that other companies can't diagnose or won't take on.

Most repairs can be identified and resolved in a single visit. If we find something during a startup or blowout that needs attention, we'll flag it on the spot and give you a clear explanation of what's going on and what it'll take to fix.

Fall sprinkler blowout

Before the first freeze, we clear the water out of your irrigation lines so it can't freeze, expand, and crack pipes, valves, fittings, or heads. We drain the full system rather than just the main line, and we recommend calling in September or early October. Blowouts typically start in October. If you're a past customer, you're already on our seasonal maintenance list, and we'll call you to schedule!

 Smart irrigation and water-saving upgrades

If your current system is functional but inefficient, we can upgrade it with smart timers, rain sensors, and zone-specific watering options that reduce water use without sacrificing coverage. These upgrades work on both new and existing systems and can make a measurable difference in your water bill over the course of a season.

  • We offer full-service irrigation, including sprinkler system design and installation, sprinkler repair, spring startup, fall blowout (winterization), system upgrades, and remodels.

  • Yes. Whether you're working on new construction or upgrading an existing yard, we design and install custom sprinkler systems based on your property's layout, water pressure, budget, and landscape needs.

  • A sprinkler blowout removes all water from your irrigation lines before winter. In Bozeman's freezing temperatures, any water left in the lines can expand and crack pipes or burst fittings. Many systems in the valley have blowouts installed in the wrong location, and many companies don't fully drain all excess water beyond just running a compressor. We make sure it's done right.

  • We recommend scheduling in September or early October. Blowouts typically start in October, working from cooler areas (Big Sky) to warmer areas (Three Forks). Calling early gets you into our service routes before the first hard freeze.

  • That's up to you. Our startup service includes turning on water at the source, checking each zone for function and coverage, making small repairs, and getting everything ready for the season. It's also something many homeowners handle on their own. We're happy to walk you through it the first time.

  • Yes. We can upgrade or design systems with smart timers, rain sensors, and zone-specific watering to help conserve water and reduce utility costs while keeping your landscape healthy.
